Brainspotting is a powerful and gentle therapy that uses eye movements that helps your brain and body process and release emotional and physical pain, trauma, and other challenging symptoms what talking alone might not reach. You’re not expected to “do it right.” Brainspotting is about trusting your brain’s own way of healing. No pressure. Just presence.
A little caveat, Brainspotting isn’t just for pain or trauma—it can also be used to enhance positive feelings, increase creativity, and improve performance in areas like art, music, sports, or public speaking.
-
1. Start with a Brief Conversation
We'll talk about what you'd like support with—this could be a feeling, a situation, creativity, performance in areas (art, music, sports, or public speaking), or even just a sense of being stuck. You can share as little or as much as you like. There's no pressure to explain everything.
2. Finding Your Brainspot
Using a pointer or your natural gaze, I’ll guide you to find a specific eye position (called a “brainspot”) that connects to what you’re experiencing emotionally or physically. This spot helps your brain access deeper areas for healing.
3. Processing—With or Without Words
Once your brainspot is found, you’ll focus on that spot and simply notice what comes up. You don’t have to talk. Really. Brainspotting works even in silence. You’re in control of what, if anything, you choose to share.
You don’t need to know what “it” is for your brain to begin processing—and I don’t need to know either.
4. A Calm, Safe Space
The session is quiet and supportive. I’ll be there with you, but I’ll follow your process—not lead it. This gives your brain and body the space they need to do the work naturally.
5. Wrapping Up
At the end, we’ll take a moment to ground and check in. If you want, we can talk about what you noticed, or you can simply take some quiet time before heading out.
